Poster Presentation Award at the 1st International Health Sciences Conference Szeged

The 1st International Health Sciences Conference Szeged was held for the first time between May 29-31, 2025, organized by the Faculty of Health Sciences and Social Studies at the University of Szeged. The scientific forum, organized with the intention of creating a tradition, focused on presenting medical and health science research and developments. Among the Student Science Study Group students of our Department, Sára Pető participated in the event with a poster presentation, for which she received a Poster Presentation Award.

The Biennial Conference of the European Society for Microcirculation Concluded Successfully in Szeged

This year, Szeged hosted the biennial international conference of the European Society for Microcirculation (ESM) from May 19–22, 2025. The three-day event was a regular international meeting of the ESM scientific society, which has been held more than thirty times in various European cities since 1959. This year, the Hungarian Society for Microcirculation and Vascular Biology (MMVBT) took on the role of host for ESM 2025, with our department head, Prof. Dr. Eszter Farkas, serving as the conference chair. The physiological societies of Hungary, Croatia, and Slovenia also participated in organizing the event to showcase the region's research in microvascular physiology. Enthusiastic feedback from participants confirmed the high quality and success of the event!

Recognition from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences

The Hungarian Academy of Sciences held its 199th general assembly on May 5, 2025, where prestigious awards were presented. Eszter Farkas, professor and head of the Department of Cell Biology and Molecular Medicine, received the Academy Award for her biomedical research, which defined new and unique directions in studying the pathological processes occurring during ischemic brain injuries and identifying therapeutic targets. She was recognized for her internationally outstanding results in uncovering the neurophysiological mechanisms behind the worsening of acute brain injuries and in advancing the diagnosis and prevention of these deteriorations. Congratulations!

Success in the Medical and Health Sciences section of the 37th Hungarian National Student Science Study Group Conference

In the Medical and Health Sciences Section of the 37th Hungarian National Student Science Study Group Conference held in Pécs, Hungary, between 22-25 April 2025, our Department was represented by Péter Kozák and Alexandra Gráczer, medical students, and Eszter Kemény and Mihály Erős, biology students. We are very proud that the jury awarded first prize to Alexandra Gráczer and Eszter Kemény, and special prizes to Péter Kozák and Mihály Erős! Congratulations to the students and their tutors!

Success in the Biology section of the 37th Hungarian National Student Science Study Group Conference

Krisztián Vinga, a second-year MSc Biology student, represented our Department in the Biology section of the 37th Hungarian National Student Science Study Group Conference in Szeged between 15-17 April 2025. We are very proud that Krisztián's presentation was awarded with the second prize in Neuobiology and Neurophysiology 2 section by the jury! Congratulations to the student and the tutors!

Participation at the Conference of the European Society for Microcirculation

 

   The biannual international conference of of the European Society for Microcirculation (ESM). Dr. Szilvia Kecskés and Dr. Eszter Farkas, members of the HCEMM-USZ Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism Research Group contributed to the meeting. Dr. Eszter Farkas is a member of the Strategy Committee of ESM. Our application to organize the next ESM meeting in 2025 in Szeged, Hungary was supported by the Board of ESM. We are looking forward to the ESM conference in Szeged in 2025!
